Charlie Walker

So here's the story. If you already are here you must know why. My father passed away on July 17th, 2005. He was in the hospital for a week after the doctors gave him an initial 24 to 48 hours to live. Needless to say, my father never seemed to do what anyone expected him to do. Which made him a very interesting character.
Afteer the funeral, we collected stories about him. Stories seem to be the best way to express what a card he was. It seemed very natural. Well, this is the place that I plan to place those stories. If you have one that you want included, then contact me. No matter how brief that it is. Like when he used to say, "Shame about Ernest Borgnine."
Not anything in particular. Just Borgnine in general I guess.
There is one other thing you must know. While his name is Charlie, it wasn't always so. When he lived in Texas, he went by the name of Buddy. I find that pretty much everyone from Texas calls him Buddy. Even people that never met him. I have no idea from where the nickname came. When he started dating my mother, her family had a dog named Buddy. When one was called, both responded and much hilarity ensued. That's when he started to be called by his real name, Charlie Walker. Of course, some times it was Charley Walker.
He ran a bar in Smyrna for many years. When the sign showed up it was misspelled as Charley's Dart Country. The business license had Charlie. The shirts had Charley. Charley or Charlie, let's call the whole thing off.
So I guess that's about all the background you need for now. (Well, except for the stories to follow this post.) If I run across anything else that needs to be explained, you'll see it as we go along. I will also need to search around for a good place to store pictures online. (If anyone has any suggestions on a nice free one or even cheap one, then chime in. Somebody has got to be cheaper than the bandwidth that I might need.)
However, I've first got to get all this stuff put together, so for now, wait.
